Our Trip to Seoul!

This year I had 10 days off for Golden Week!!

Golden Week usually takes place during the end of April and early May. The week long holiday consists of several national holidays such as Showa Day, Constitution Day, Greenery Day, and Children’s Day. This time of the year also becomes busy for all kinds of travelers and businesses- in other words, travel season.

In the past years I’ve had maybe at most a 6-day Golden Week vacation (automatically off, no vacation time needed) but this year because of the new Emperor’s ascension to the throne, 10 days were given for this special event.

So we decided to go to Seoul!

South Korea has been one of the countries outside of Japan that Trevor and I have been wanting to visit for some time now- This long string of vacations gave us a great opportunity to finally go!

Here is a breakdown of what we did, with some events that will have their own separate posts once we go through photos! (And once I figure out appropriate photo sizes for WordPress…)

We stayed in Seoul for 4 1/2 days and 5 nights.

  • Walked around the area by our hotel
  • Dinner was: bibimbap, and kalbi dumplings with loads of kimchi on the side!

Valentine’s Day 2017

Happy Post-Valentine’s Day!

Whether you spent it alone, with friends, or with a special someone, I think one of the best things about Valentine’s Day… is chocolate. I love chocolate. I’m not a huge fan of Valentine’s Day, but I do like having an excuse to binge on chocolate treats and goodies. GIMME ALL THE CHOCOLATe.

I tried to do Valentine’s themed activities with my some of my classes… didn’t go so well. 😦 Oh well, now I know not to do it next year… Continue reading

Tokyo Orientation in Shinjuku! *Picture heavy!!!*

Prior to my arrival to Totsukawa village, there was a three day orientation in Shinjuku, Tokyo. We landed at Narita airport around 3 or 4 pm, and after a couple hours of getting through immigration, baggage claim, and customs, followed by an hour drive to the Keio Plaza hotel, we were finally in Japan. T.O. for the most part was very useful and informative. I have never had any formal teaching experience, so the teaching seminars were (at least for me) very helpful.
