Kyoto: Fushimi Inari Taisha

Maybe you didn’t notice, but on our Japan Bucket List, visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto was crossed off. Most of the bullets on that list will have a link directing you to a correlating blog post I wrote, but I didn’t write a particular post about Fushimi Inari Taisha. We actually went to Kyoto last year in November, a short day trip which we ended up spending with some new friends that Trevor made while I was at a business trip. (We hope to visit you in Switzerland soon Elena and Max!!! <3) Continue reading

Yellowcard Final World Tour Concert in Osaka, Japan!

Happy March!!!

Wow, March already?! Yesterday was my high school’s graduation ceremony. I was running on three and a half hours of sleep. Needless to say, it was a struggle to stay awake. But the lack of sleep was so worth it because Trevor and I got to see one of our favorite bands Yellowcard play one last time in Osaka. Last year, Yellowcard announced that they would be disbanding 😦 Upon hearing that, we knew we had to see them one more time. This would also give us the opportunity to experience what a rock concert in Japan would be like… Continue reading

An Owl Cafe in Nara?!

Did you know that Nara has an owl cafe? I always thought you could only find these kinds of themed cafes in the bigger cities like Osaka or Tokyo.

When my mom and cousin were here visiting, we all went to Owl Cafe Wata Wata (Nara’s first Owl Cafe!) together- until my cousin chickened out of seeing the owls. And if she wasn’t going in, my mom wasn’t either. Since we don’t come up to Nara city often, Trevor and I didn’t want to miss a chance at seeing owls up close and personal. Continue reading

Cardcaptor Sakura Cafe in Tennoji, Osaka!!

When I was in elementary school, I loved Cardcaptors. Before I found out how horribly the dubbed version butchered the original Japanese series, I was always super excited to get home from school to watch whatever re-run episode aired on KidsWB (was that the channel or Toonami?) I remember as a child making my mom buy me the Cardcaptor Clow Cards set from Target, and reading the entire manga series on multiple occasions at my family friend, Christina’s house. Ahh… memories ❤

At the moment I saw that there was a Cardcaptor Sakura cafe opened in Osaka, I knew immediately, I needed to go. However, I also knew that I needed to be patient. We live almost 3 hours away from the central Osaka area, so I wasn’t going to be going anytime soon. Thankfully, I had a business trip up in Nara and Trevor told me that once work was done, we would go to the cafe. YAY!!! It was pretty good timing too, seeing as that the cafe was only going to be open for a certain amount of time. Double yay because since we went on a weekday, the place wasn’t as packed as what you would imagine it to be on a weekend. Continue reading

Halloween in Osaka 2016!!

It’s way past Halloween, I know, but I didn’t want to forget writing about how much fun Trevor and I had in Osaka. To be honest, this was our first time in a long time having a mini-vacation to ourselves. Every other time we’ve had to come up north and stay at a hotel it was always for something work-related. So this was a much needed break and time away from our quaint village life. We looove Osaka anyways, so we didn’t mind spending a couple nights in a bustling and entertaining city! Continue reading

Silver Week (Pt 2): Shingu, Wakayama

If you read my very first post, you would know that the road to the closest city where I could do grocery shopping (an hour away) had been blocked off and closed due to a landslide that occurred before my arrival in Totsukawa. Before we left on our mini vacation to Osaka, my JTE from the Junior High School informed me that the road to Shingu had opened the week before. My initial thoughts: YES!!! I can finally do grocery shopping at a store that isn’t more than an hour away!!! Continue reading
